Infineon Extends Global Lead in Automotive Semiconductors with Record MCU Market Share

Apr 17,2026

Infineon Technologies AG has once again reinforced its position as the world’s leading supplier of automotive semiconductors. According to the latest 2025 market analysis, Infineon has secured the top spot in global automotive semiconductor market share for the sixth consecutive year, further widening the gap over its closest competitors. This achievement highlights the company’s role as a preferred partner in the fast-evolving automotive industry.

Peter Schaefer, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Infineon’s Automotive Division, commented: “Infineon’s continued leadership in the automotive semiconductor market reflects our strong commitment to customers and our ability to address key industry trends such as software-defined vehicles and powertrain electrification. Our strengthened position in critical areas, particularly microcontrollers, underscores our innovation capabilities. At the same time, our ranking among the top one or two suppliers across all major global markets demonstrates the deep trust our partners place in us.”

Strong global leadership across key regions

Data from TechInsights shows that the global automotive semiconductor market expanded to USD 74.4 billion in 2025. Since first reaching the number-one position in 2020, Infineon has maintained its lead, achieving a 12.8% market share this year and increasing the distance from the second-ranked competitor.

This success is supported by Infineon’s strong presence across all major automotive regions. In China—the world’s largest automotive semiconductor market—as well as in Europe and South Korea, Infineon has further consolidated its leadership and continued to widen the gap with competitors. In North America and Japan, the company ranks second while significantly narrowing the distance to the regional market leaders.

Expanding leadership in microcontrollers for automotive innovation

In the critical automotive microcontroller (MCU) segment, Infineon has significantly extended its advantage. In 2025, the company’s MCU market share rose to 36.0%, an increase of 3.9 percentage points year over year, further distancing itself from competitors.

Microcontrollers play a decisive role in enabling automotive innovation. They ensure precise and efficient operation of electric powertrains, support reliable real-time decision-making in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving, and form the foundation of the electronic and electrical architectures that enable software and feature updates in software-defined vehicles.

Since 2020, Infineon’s focus on system-level innovation and its ability to meet the needs of global automakers and Tier 1 suppliers have secured its leadership in the automotive semiconductor sector. The latest findings from TechInsights reaffirm Infineon’s strong performance and sustained market leadership amid rapid technological transformation in the automotive industry.
